Legislation affecting Michigan's
individual health insurance market has been reviewed since
October 2007, when the Michigan House of Representatives passed
a comprehensive package to reform the state’s individual
health insurance system.
By putting many of the same protections
enjoyed by Michigan small employers in place for individual
purchasers of health insurance, the legislation promotes
long-term affordability and access. From creating a level
playing field for insurers, to creating a common-sense pricing
structure and preventing drastic rate hikes because of illness,
these bills help protect Michigan residents.
These are the Michigan-based organizations supporting
insurance reforms that provide fair, affordable, secure
health care coverage in our state. And more are joining
every day.
